The word on everyone’s lips this week is TUNA!
They have been aplenty this week off the South East Queensland coastline with plenty of Long Tail and Yellow Fin around with a heap of Mac Tuna and Stripes amongst them.
For the anglers that are out chasing Black Marlin they have still been biting quite well around Spot X on live baits with a number of boats tagging 2-3 fish a session ! Spotted and Spanish mackerel are still getting caught around Palm Beach and Mermaid Reef with the odd Spanish getting hooked at the Gravel Patch, also some good catches of Spanish east of the seaway at Diamond Reef.
Anglers that have been getting away from fishing for Pelagic's have been finding some good good Snapper, Pearl Perch and Tuskfish around the 24 fathom reefs from Seaway down past the Tweed Coast.
For the anglers that don't have access to get out offshore, the headlands and beaches have been fishing well with the occasional Tailer and Dart being caught.
Fishing the estuaries the last week a-lot of anglers are still getting stuck into some Mangrove Jacks which are holding along a-lot of the rock walls and bridge pylons in the Tweed River and also the Gold Coast river systems.
Flathead and Whiting have also been fishing well with most being caught on soft plastics and hard bodies, with the bigger Whiting going for live bait such as Sand worms and yabbies!
With the bit of rain we have had in the last week its seem to have got the Muddies on the move with a lot of pots seeing 2-3 in each !
Best catches of muddies have been middle to upper reaches of the Tweed River, with also Currumbin Creek producing well.
Thats about it for this weeks fishing report if your getting out on the water please be safe and respect our waterways!
