Nomad Design Maverick 230mm Floating Stickbait

The Maverick Roughwater is designed with the weights placed forward in the head section, and can be cast in rougher weather and used as a sub-surface stickbait, but where the Maverick 230 Roughwater really shines is when trolled. The incredible swimming action is unlike any other lure and it drives mackerel, tuna, wahoo and kingfish wild.

The Maverick 230 is made with Stainless Steel metal plates, HD ABS plastic and a foam filled body for the ultimate in strength and durability. The calmwater and roughwater versions have the weights placed at different internal locations to make the lure more suited to either calm or rough conditions.

*The Maverick 230mm is supplied unrigged. We recommend using 2 x 11/0 or 12/0 BKK DEEP 6X hooks on the belly, rigged back to back, and a Nomad Inline 11/0 single on the tail. Alternately, a pair of 6/0 BKK GT Rex barbless trebles should be used.

Unlike any other lure ever made, the Maverick design is truly unique. It was inspired by the desire to create a lure that had a subtle splash matched with a massive body roll and wiggle at very slow speeds, matched with an underwater bubble trail. A long list of features for sure, but after designer Damon Olsen had tested 10 different prototypes over the course of 2 years the perfect solution emerged.  

The Maverick 230 calmwater can be worked with a slow twitching action of the rod, or for the ultimate action, can be worked with a long slow sweep of the rod to get the crazy underwater swimming action, splash and bubble trail. The trick with the maverick is a slightly faster rod sweep on the first 1/5 of the sweep. This pulls the head underwater with a big gulp of air and then creates the bubble trail. The rest of the sweep should be smooth and slow and you will feel the Maverick thumping and swimming through the rod tip. The cupped head and air chambers going through to the underside of the body have been designed to force bubbles along the side of the body, where they hug the sides of the lure creating a unique rolling swimming action.
