The stickbaits work at different retrieves from a fast straight retrieve to a sweeping retrieve with a pause. Some lures are just supper fishy and these are no exception.

At pause these diving stick baits will float head down so when you start your retrieve or sweep they natural start to swim down. A great lure in choppy conditions and when the surface bite is a little slow.
