The Pakula Full 60 Degree Shackle Rig was developed by Peter Pakula during the early days of trolling lures for Blue Marlin on Australia's East Coast. At that time, various lures, including Pakula prototypes, were tested daily. This required a rig that could be swiftly transferred between lures while allowing maximum freedom of action.

Given the infrequency of strikes, it was crucial that the rig also provided optimal hook-up rates. This rig met all these criteria, resulting in only minor modifications to the current rigs.

Only a few sets of hooks are needed, which can be used across multiple lures. It is relatively simple to maintain a few sets of hooks in a sharp and clean condition for use with a full range of lures.

The Pakula Shackle Rig enables the hooks to align with the center of the lure, eliminating line twist. The hooks can swing freely, allowing the lure to perform its best action without hindrance or keeling effects. This maximizes the chances of successful hook-ups as the hooks operate independently.
